Too many people allow for their temperament or personality to speak to their identity. They allow their temperament to define (or redefine) who they are. However, a temperament is just an expression which flows out a particular aspect of who you are. It is not who you are. So many believers allow their momentary expressions to define themselves, and so when they are no longer expressing/acting/doing - they are left in a place of confusion as to who they really are. Or if they begin to express themselves in a way that is contrary to what they had previously understood as being their personality or temperament, then they find themselves confused or ashamed.

Tonight while in the shower (showers are straight up a place of revelation for me - it’s like Adam pre-Fall, just naked before the Lord! haha), the Lord reminded me of a prophetic word He gave me a month ago for a sister. The word He gave me for her was that she was a warrior, filled with fire and passion, almost like a Joan of Arc or Deborah from the book of Judges. However, her temperament was completely opposite to that word - outwardly she was very shy, soft-spoken, etc - there was no reason at all to believe that she was inside a fire-filled, bold and courageous warrior, but that’s exactly who the Lord says she is. The world may see you one way, and you very well may be used to expressing yourself in a particular manner - but beloved, that’s not who you are.

God is Love, but love is not God. God is an all consuming fire, but an all consuming fire is not God. God’s expressions of Himself do not define His identity. God is God - there is no other. God defined Himself simply as “I AM”, or “I AM THAT I AM”. His expressions do not define who He is - He’s just God, what He says and who He says we are is what defines us. We are who God says we are. Your expression is simply the creative means by which God has given you to live towards fulfilling your assignment, and towards seeing that ultimate conclusion - that you are still who God says you are.

Be blessed!
